I spent whatever time I could chip out over the weekend getting closer and closer to publication. This was website polishing and launch, layout tweaking, file formatting, cover formatting and tweaking. Every time I finished one thing and thought I was done there was another thing that popped up.
I’m using multiple platforms to get my book out, Draft2Digital for ebook, IngramSpark for print, and Amazon for, well, Amazon. Each one has their own interface, their own tools, their own quirks of working with them. I can understand why some people don’t want to bother at all with indie publishing and only want to go trad. There’s a lot you have to do! That’s not even counting the marketing/promo part of it. I know that part will be long, and will require I get more acquainted with social media (blegh!).
The book is available for preorder in a bunch of places (Barnes & Noble and others). I should have a digital proof of the physical copy in a couple days. Then I’ll order an author copy or two and after that we’re off to the races!
In the meantime, I have work and family stuff to take care of. I’ll be stealing moments where I can to put the finishing touches on the path to publication. More to come.
